Happenings at the Pasco Motor Shop
Koyo Bearing Training
H&N Electric was host to two days of Koyo BearingTraining seminars at the shop and one day on-site at Boise Paper in Wallula, WA. Lunch was provided thanks to the Wazee BBQ Trailer for the 200+ people who attended the informative training sessions.
Busy Motor Repair Shop
It has been a busy summer for H&N’s motor repair shop. Included in the jobs thus far were a 2500 hp motor and 1500 hp motor. Additionally, a steady stream of pumps and motors has been through the motor shop from the agricultural customers in the northwest, including irrigation districts, large farms and corporations, and family owned farms.
All divisions of Wazee are now equipped with AED units. An AED (automated external defibrillator) is a user-friendly, portable, battery operated device designed to diagnose and treat sudden cardiac arrest victims. Once applied to the victim, the device diagnoses cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) and then administers an electrical shock at the lower level of the heart which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm and therefore giving it the ability to pump blood regularly to the body once again. Not long ago, AED devices were used strictly by medical professionals, but due to newer lighter-weight, compact, and easy to use designs along with public education, many businesses and residences are now equipped with AED’s.
Facts and statistics: OSHA contributes roughly 13% of workplace fatalities to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), however, statistics show that with workplace CPR/AED programs in place, fatalities due to SCA in the workplace are steadily decreasing. With the use of an AED on an SCA victim, the chance of their survival can increase by 49-74%.
